Since I don’t have a bento to blog today, I’m going to do another stuffed stuff blog. This is something I made a loooooong time ago.
Stuffed stuff: Piggy from Invader ZIM
Created and stuffed: September 2004-ish
“Invader ZIM” was a cartoon show created by Jhonen Vasquez produced and aired on Nickelodeon. My friends at work and I looooved the show, and we used to watch it during lunch break everyday. Piggy is a character from Invader ZIM. As you can see, he’s a piggy.
Christmas 2003, I made a huuuge Piggy for my friend at work. After that, I scaled down the pattern, polished it and made a smaller version, which is the same pattern I used to make the one in the picture. Piggy wasn’t the first character from Invader ZIM I made, but it was one of few plushes I ended up keeping. I like the character designs in Invader ZIM a lot, and ending up making several other characters. I’ll probably post them soon on my blog.
Anyway, we liked the show so much that our company ended up releasing it on DVD. 😀 (Of course, the whole process is more involved than that, but it’s pretty boring so I’m not going to write about it.) For the DVD extras we planned on interviewing the voice actors, director, and music composer etc. So I decided to make little gifts for them. I made about 6-7 Piggies and 6-7 Mini-Moose! (I might have made more, but I can’t remember.) If you own the DVD, you can probably see my friend (the interviewer) tossing either a Piggy or Mini-Moose to the cast member at the end of the interview.
When I made the Piggies, I didn’t have time to use all the cut fabric, so after I shipped them off, I used the rest of the cut fabric and made three more Piggies. I gave one to my boyfriend’s niece, and I made one to my friend in Japan. I couldn’t find a nice home for this one, so I decided to keep him.
I’m very proud of the pattern for the sphere, because I made it totally from scratch! It only uses two pieces of fabric, but I made a lot of modifications and spent a lot of time getting this to work. It’s such a basic shape that I still use this pattern for many different projects.
I didn’t post all the pictures of Piggy on here, so if you want to see more pictures of him, please check them out on my flickr page.

This is awesome. I’m not confident enough in my sewing skills to design patterns yet, but your ability to produce such accurate stuffie patterns astounds me.
I would love to see how mini moose turned out.
I love these!
Do you have pictures of Mini-moose??
This one is super cute… KAWAIIII
I would love to make one and have tried with realy bad results 😦 would you be willing to share the pattern you used?
