We’re back from Anime Boston!

The people I went  with were my boyfriend and four other co-workers. We’re all friends, so even though it was a business trip, we had a great time. My feet and neck were killing me by the end of each day, but one of the great things about a business trip is that we can try different food in the area. My boyfriend and I love cooking, and we cook almost everyday, but it’s still kinda nice to eat food someone else cooked for you once in a while. (especially if you don’t have to pay for it :P) As I mentioned in my previous blog post, we ate at The Daily Grill on Thursday.

On the second day (the first day of Anime Boston), I had an omelet at the hotel for breakfast.

My omelet seemed concerned about the long day (9 hours) ahead of us.

For lunch, I had Thai pizza from California Pizza Kitchen. We usually don’t have that many choices for lunch at a convention, and you can’t be picky since you’re ordering it with several other people. The pizza was a bit too spicy and it was way too much food for me.

Without doubt, this was the best cosplay (puppet?) of Jack Skellington and his dog Zero from the Nightmare Before Christmas

After the convention, we went straight to the pool, soaked our achy feet in the hot tub. It felt soooo good. We went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner where the light fixtures looked like the Eye of Sauron.

"The Eye was rimmed with fire, but was itself glazed, yellow as a cat's, watchful and intent, and the black slit of its pupil opened on a pit, a window into..." delicious cheesecakes?

I had a kobe burger.

I had a kobe burger. yum.

After dinner, we played “Tatsunoko VS Capcom” (Japanese Wii game) back in our room. I heard the game will be coming out in the U.S. ! If you like Tatsunoko and Capcom characters, and a fun button-mashing fighting game, you should definitely get it!

Gold Lightan is AWESOME. He fills a half of the screen.

Gold Lightan is AWESOME and HUGE.

Friday, I had a mini-muffin, a mini-croissant, and a mini-bagel. The only reason I ate them was they were so tiny and cute.

Perfect size to try many different food.

We went to a middle eastern restaurant “Cafe Jaffa” by the convention center. We had Baba Ghanoush and Humus as appetizers. I had a lamb Shawarma sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious! Especially the sandwiches. They give you tons of meat for about $9.

This was about $9. I could only eat a third of it.

We were so full, we had to go get some ice cream to soothe our stomachs.

Today was only 10:00-3:00, so it wasn’t that bad. After the convention was over, we packed up and left Boston around 5:00.  We stopped by at Cracker Barrel for a very late lunch/early dinner. I had their famous country fried chicken. As you can see, it was huge, covered with gravy.

Maybe not the healthiest food on earth.

It is fun to eat out, but since I don’t like stuffing myself with food when I’m full and I hate wasting food, it’s hard for me to eat at a restaurant if I’m not going straight home after the meal. (to put a doggy bag in the fridge.) In Japan, many restaurants have something called “Lady’s’ set”, which has a smaller portion and is often cheaper, and I think it’s a great idea for someone who doesn’t have a big stomach. So, yeah, the convention was a blast, the food was good, but I’m soooo ready to cook food by myself! 🙂

That Jack Skellington and Zero are awesome!
As a side note, I’m glad that you frequently take pictures of the food that you eat. A lot of people seem to neglect this on trips and excursions, though it’s just as important for, ah… memories. Then again, this is a food-based blog 🙂 .

(Hi, I’m a recent subscriber).

Wow, that Jack Skellington/Zero puppeteers have their hands full! They’re incredible, though, no doubt.

And it DOES look like the eye of Sauron! O.O

I designed/built the Jack and Zero puppets and those are my two wonderful children/puppeteers (and co-builders). I’m so glad everyone enjoyed them. Now for some major repair work before ConnectiCon……..

Well, what a beautiful job! I sincerely compliment your efforts and I hope that I might get to see your puppets live someday!

It is a truly remarkable idea. Brilliant! And well-executed!
